Reasonable Adjustments

Making Reasonable Adjustments

When employers are aware of health or disability information about an individual, they have a legal duty to consider making reasonable adjustments as well as a general duty of care and responsibility for employee health and preventing personal injury. In this Trust we support our staff in this area.

Making reasonable adjustments can often be straightforward and low cost and comes down to treating the member of staff as an individual. The Trust currently has a Task and Finish Group looking to improve our performance in this area. NHS Employers has produced detailed guidance on making reasonable adjustments.

The Trust working group has also provided training for managers in this area. This was supplied by Mandy Whalley from the Staff Therapy Team and a member of the Business HR team. A copy of this training can be found through the following link:

There are plans to run this training again in the coming months. Look at “In Touch” for details.

In order to improve our performance in this area we now record all instances where Reasonable Adjustments have been made.

We have created a central log of Reasonable Adjustments.

Please email Reasonableadjustments@rlbuht.nhs.uk  with any information relating to reasonable adjustments that have been made.
