Managing Sickness Absence

Course Description

This session allows staff to deal with absence management effectively in line with trust policy. It includes practical case study exercises and interactive discussions with guest speakers from HR, giving you the understanding to confidently deal with attendance management issues.

Learning Objectives

• Understand and apply the Trust's attendance Management Policy consistently and fairly, and in line with relevant employment and equalities legislation, throughout the Trust
• Manage attendance efficiently, providing appropriate support to employees where necessary and ensuring a balance between being a supportive employer and meeting the needs of the service
• Understand and effectively use a range of approaches to deal with absence management
• Understand and effectively use a range of approaches to deal with absence management
• Understand the link between health, work and wellbeing and the impact of health and wellbeing on attendance at work
• Understand the relevant employment and equalities legislation
• Understand the options available at different stages of the policy
