Peer Support Programme

Course Description

This one day programme will develop your skills to provide informal pastoral and peer support to apprentices or new starters that join team/department. This is designed for those who are NOT in leadership/management roles but do have natural leadership qualities and would be suited to offer new starters to the team an additional layer of support that need it, which also helps the manager of the department.

The course will provide you with an understanding of the expectations of you as peer support and how this can benefit individuals and the team. During the programme, you will build on your communication and emotional intelligence skills and understand how to apply to your peer support role and your place of work.

This programme is aimed at staff in bands 3-5 in non-clinical roles, but may still be beneficial to those outside these bands. This programme is not to be confused with professional mentoring/coaching programmes that are provided specifically for clinicians. If you are a manager and have staff you feel would be suitable for this role, please put them forward for this development programme.

In order to attend this programme, you must have full support from your line manager and be able to apply your learning back in the workplace.

Please note the peer support programme now forms day three of our Launchpad Programme, therefore you will join colleagues who are taking part in this longer programme. To book your place on the peer support programme only, please email learninganddevelopmentdepartment@liverpoolft.nhs.uk
