Control of Substances Hazardous to Health(COSHH)

The Trust has a legal requirement under Health and Safety legislation to conduct risk assessments across the organization. In order to manage this requirement the Trust must have in place suitably trained assessors to carry out this role. 

Who is this course for?

This course is for nominated staff from departments that are required to have a COSHH risk assessment in place. Staff having completed this course will conduct COSHH assessments within their own work area.

Course content 

The training programme is broken down into two sessions:

Section 1:

Classroom based face to face session lasting approximately 2-4 hours.

Section 2:

An additional 4-5 hours of online e-Learning Packages to be completed.

 Learning outcomes

  1. Employer and employee responsibilities under COSHH regulations.
  2. Common ill-health effects from working with hazardous substances.
  3. Potential routes of entry of hazardous substances.
  4. Methods to reduce risk of contact with hazardous substances.
  5. How to find additional guidance when identifying hazardous substances.
  6. How to undertake a COSHH assessment.

This training is a combination of face to face.and e-learning packages. The Health and Safety department will be following all TrustCovid guidelines as appropriate.
