Coaching for Improvement (Coaching Masterclass)

Course Description

Research shows us that using a coaching approach in leadership has numerous benefits. As a manager, asking questions instead of providing answers, support staff through active listening and engaging with their ideas, develops a culture where staff have the confidence to find solutions to their own problems. This two-day coaching masterclass programme will explore both the theory and practice of coaching and will give you time and space to practice in a supportive environment. You will also have the opportunity to learn from your peers and from other experienced, qualified work coaches from across Liverpool University Hospitals. 

There will be pre-course reading and tasks attached to this workshop and you will have to attend an impact evaluation meeting six weeks post course.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course you will have had the opportunity to:

  • Understand the benefits of using a coaching leadership style with staff
  • Use the GROW model to structure coaching conversations with your staff
  • Practise coaching skills using scenarios

Intended Audience

Colleagues with line management responsibilities and are having regular conversations with their team regarding performance, motivation and development.  The Coaching for Improvement programme forms part of LUHFT's learning pathway 4.  To access the pathway please have a development conversation with your line manager before completing the declaration in the pathway documentation.
